Live Online Theory Lessons

Musical notes 600x400

Our online theory lessons are now full for this term. If you would like to be put on a waiting list please let us know

Classes will be led by Cathy Scott-Burt and spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis (although current members of Coventry Music groups will be given priority if too many applications are received). The only materials learners will need for the first two classes are a pen, a sharp pencil, a rubber and some A4 and printable manuscript paper (the 12 stave paper here http://www.musictheory.org.uk/manuscriptpaper.php is ideal). Lessons will be delivered via Microsoft Teams and are limited to 9 learners per class. For the exam class, learners will be expected to purchase the relevant ABRSM theory workbooks.

There will be 3 levels of class: Beginner/grade 1 – suitable for those who have not been playing their instrument for long, or who have not done much theory before

Improver/grade 2-3 – suitable for those who have already taken grade 2 or 3 on an instrument, or who have already had some theory lessons

Exam class/grade 4-5 – suitable for those with a good knowledge of basic key signatures, time signatures, intervals and some musical Italian words. This would also be a good class for those taking GCSE music next year to add to their theoretical knowledge.

The beginner group will take place on Tuesdays at 3:30pm, the improver group on Wednesdays at 3:30pm and the exam class on Thursdays at 3:30pm. These lessons will start week beginning 8th June 2020.

If this trial is successful, we would hope to continue these lessons in the autumn term.

Booking is now full for the summer term, contact us to put your child's name on our waiting list, and we will be in touch as soon as places become available.
