We are supporting Brass for Africa with large donation of instruments

Mark A handing over instruments to Brass 4 Africa

Last week we were really pleased to support the Brass 4 Africa charity by donating some of our brass instruments which were surplus to requirements.

Having recently relocated to take up office space in the newly renovated Drapers Hall, we discovered we had a number of brass instruments in storage that were no longer needed. Many of these instruments were also in need of extensive repairs.

Rather than have the instruments sit in storage, we contacted Brass for Africa to see if they would be interested in having the instruments.

Brass for Africa provides instruments, brass music education and life-skills training, including instrument maintenance and repair, to children in Uganda, Liberia and Rwanda. The donated instruments will be used to support the charity’s projects and will help enrich the lives of the young people in those countries.

Rob Stewart, UK Coordinator for Brass for Africa said: “Brass for Africa operates in three countries: Uganda, Liberia and Rwanda. We work in partnership with community-based organisations, and our local team of teachers are all African and alumni of the programmes themselves.

“These instruments are an amazing donation to our charity, which continues to undertake amazing work. Brass for Africa has grown and now supports more than 1000 children and young people every week through brass music education and these instruments will be put to great use.”
