Opportunity for schools to take part in Music workshops at Warwick Arts Centre
Published: Thursday, 10 October 2019

A FREE Introduction Workshop to the guitar + FREE Tickets to Flanders Symphony Orchestra Concert
I just wanted to let you know of a free and exciting opportunity for your year 7/8/9 pupils. Coventry Music are delivering 4 different beginner workshops in the learning space at Warwick Arts Centre throughout the year. The first of these is a guitar workshop on Thursday 31st October, 5.00pm-6.00pm.
The idea of these workshops is that the participants will receive an hour's workshop on an instrument that will be featured in that night's orchestral concert and then they receive a complimentary ticket to see the concert afterwards.
The reason we have chosen guitar for the first workshop is that the concert that evening features Milos Karadaglic playing alongside the Flanders Symphony Orchestra. The programme is as follows:
Rossini Barber of Seville Overture
Rodrigo Concerto de Aranjuez
Villa Lobos 3 preludes for solo guitar
De Falla El Amor Brujo Ballet Suite
Bizet Extracts from Carmen
We can accommodate up to 30 young musicians and would love to have some representation from Coventry school. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Although this event is entirely free, it would be the school's responsibility for getting the children to and from the venue and for school staff to be present for the duration of the workshop and concert.
There will be other opportunities later this year on other instruments. Watch our website for more information, or let us know of your interest in this exciting project, by contacting Vicky Clayton at Coventry Music; victoria.clayton@coventry.gov.uk or j.branson@warwick.ac.uk or 024 765 22015.
