Schools hard work recognised at award ceremony for Artsmark Awards
On Monday 8th July, we were really excited to relaunch the Coventry Schools Junior Arts Council. All schools who have achieved Artsmark, or are working towards it, were invited to send two student representatives.
Coventry’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Linda Bigham, opened the meeting and presented the members with their badges. There were also presentations from Coventry Cultural Education Partnership Chair Mark Steele, and Susie Murphy from Positive Youth Foundation, along with two youth panel members, Tamsir and Tanzilla. The JAC members shared some of their favourite arts experiences, and finished by writing a Junior Arts Council Pledge, setting out what they want to achieve as members of the JAC.
It was an inspiring morning, with lots of enthusiasm, positivity and brilliant ideas bouncing around. Thank you to Barr’s Hill for being such wonderful hosts!
