Well done to all our fantastic performers at this years Summer Showcase Events PHOTOS NOW AVAILABLE SEE BELOW FOR LINK

On Tuesday 25th and wednesday 26th June we hosted two magical days of performances from our talented groups, ensembles and school whole class groups. It was lovely to see so many children enjoying performing for parents, other schools and the general public.

We would like to personally thank each and every performer that demonstrated their amazing talents during our two night Summer Showcase. All schools and groups were phenomenal and the staff at the Warwick Arts Centre were brilliant. Cannot thank everyone involved enough.

Wednesday 26th June saw 9 primary schools across the city put on 10 fantastic performances, showcasing the skills and instruments they have been playing during the school year. Filling the Butterworth Hall at Warwick Arts Centre with joyous music.

Pupils took to the stage with a variety of instruments including Fife's and Ukulele’s, Samba drums and Recorders.

Both the morning and afternoon performances ended with pupils and teacher’s alike singing and playing George Ezra's Shotgun, led by Coventry Music's fabulous Vicky Clayton.

Whole class music programmes enable children to enjoy as a group playing and developing musical skills alongside working as a team and sparking their creative interests. Well done to all of those who took part and we look forward to seeing all of the young musicians again as they continue their musical education journey.

Coventry Music Summer Showcase 25th & 26th June

Across Two nights over 400 young musicians Coventry performed an eclectic mix of repertoire ranging from new compositions by SoundLab-Cov & Coventry Music Live on Stage Bands, Swords & Sunflowers and Flat Earth, to film music featuring Greatest Showman and Skyfall with Coventry Music Winds.

Coventry Music Trust also launched with Fleur Sexton speaking about the aims of the charity to improve access, inclusivity and give more children from ALL backgrounds the opportunity to learn, play, sing and perform music.

Showcasing wonderful talent across the city also once again included mesmerising performances by a Special Needs school choir, featuring Three Spires, Bagington Fields, Riverbank and Woodfield schools, developed in partnership with Armonico consort. The amazing new composition created through visits to all schools was magically crafted into a brilliant new work.

We also once again had the pleasure of hearing from the Open Orchestra at Sherbourne fields, delivered in partnership with Open Orchestras, Coventry Music, MAC makes music and Youth Music. The orchestra enables all pupils to take part utilising innovative music tech such as eye-gaze combined with traditional instruments. The reworking of Holt’s Classic – The Music of Venus – was a fantastic performance that had the audience mesmerised so you could have heard a pin drop!

Coventry Music groups that run during the academic year also took the opportunity to perform some interesting pieces with the String Ensemble showcasing the many different techniques in replicating a Bee and City Band channelled their inner Mickey Mouse with ‘Crazy for Cartoons’.
