3) Fretworks Guitar group
View full details of Fretworks Guitar groupGuitar students learn to improvise and compose as well as performing and listening critically to a variety of genres. They learn something of the history of the instrument and the music they are playing, and are given opportunities to perform at regular concerts in prestigious venues such as the Belgrade Theatre, Warwick Arts Centre and Coventry Cathedral.
This group is also a great opportunity to learn other fretted instruments such as mandolin, ukulele and bass guitar, and progress their learning to a higher level.
Our guitar groups will get the opportunity to perform at live venues and will come together to perform twice a year at our showcase events.

4) Coventry Music Session Band
View full details of Coventry Music Session BandSwing, blues, rock and pop are all part of the musical fare for the Session Orchestra.
In a standard big band line up of trumpets, saxophones and trombones supported with a rhythm section of drums, bass, keyboard and rhythm guitar, the Jazz Orchestra takes players from Grade 3
Young players explore the world of improvisation with repertoire from ‘laid back’ ballads to ‘up tempo’ dance numbers.
With performances at Warwick Arts Centre, the Belgrade Theatre, the Godiva Festival and Coventry Motofest, the band is known for being exciting and uplifting.
These group is for advanced players only and musicians will be invited to join by a music teacher. Please speak to your music or group teacher to enquire about joining this group, or email us at music@coventry.gov.uk

6) Coventry String Orchestra
View full details of Coventry String OrchestraThe String Orchestra is a friendly and ambitious ensemble for string players (violin, viola, cello or double bass).
Members are drawn from a range of primary and secondary schools in the city, and are at levels from grade 2 to grade 6.
Repertoire is varied, from Baroque favourites to Classical and Romantic pieces and including some film music and other arrangements. It’s a great ensemble to join to improve your sight-reading, as well as develop your ensemble skills and we play regular live concerts both as a group and as part of the larger Coventry Music concert series.

7) Live on Stage
View full details of Live on StageAllowing young musicians to form Rock Bands, develop song writing skills, learn about the music industry and take part in live performances.

8) West Midlands Inclusive Choir- Coventry Branch
View full details of West Midlands Inclusive Choir- Coventry BranchThe Coventry Soundabout Inclusive Choir welcomes people aged 25 years and under, and their families.
The Choir celebrates that everyone has their own way of sharing their voice. Here are a few examples of ways you could join in:
- Using Makaton Signing
- Singing or other vocal sounds
- Making sounds with an instrument or sound maker
- Using technology e.g. an iPad or EyeGaze
- Movement and dance
By welcoming all voices we aim to be as inclusive as possible, and actively try to remove barriers to participation from those with severe and profound learning disabilities.

9) Soundlab

SoundLab is a new Centre for Creative Music Making with our first centre opening in Coventry in partnership with Positive Youth Foundation, Coventry Music and Coventry City Council. The vision is to create a space for young people to be creative in their music making, open to all, seeking diversity in: musical genre; pathway to music; instruments; vocal styles and culture. Removing the barriers to enable all who wish to engage the opportunity to do so.SoundLab-Cov is for 10-16 year olds who have a range of musical interests and styles including spoken word, dance, electronic, jazz, classical, and more.
It is open to young people who play an instrument, create digital beats/music and those who sing, rap or create spoken word.
At SoundLab-Cov you'll work with a team of professional musicians, with guest artists and performance opportunities across the year.

11) Regional Youth Orchestra

The music services of Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire are delighted to invite students to take part in a new high quality orchestral experience.
The new Regional Orchestra is intended for high quality young musicians up to the age of 19 and we expect that woodwind, brass and percussion players will be of Grade 7 standard or above.
The Regional Orchestra will meet for three non-residential weekend courses and we are delighted to be working in partnership with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, the Warwick Arts Centre and the Warwick Schools Foundation.
Our aim is to give as many students as possible a high-quality orchestral experience.
We hope to be up-and-running again soon

It is an afterschool opportunity for young people who are interested in learning to play new instruments, write songs, experiment with technology and make new friends.
Creative Sounds is open to young musicians of all abilities and with the aim to help support people with
additional needs and disabilities with their musical ambitions.
There is no need for any previous experience, just a desire to get creative and have fun!Two sessions are available - both open to all ages and abilities
