Regional Youth Orchestra

Description

The music services of Coventry, Solihill and Warwickshire are delighted to invite students to take part in a brand new high quality orchestral experience.

The Regional Youth Orchestra will launch with a major event at the University of Warwick Arts Centre in January and we hope to attract students from across the region to join this brand new ensemble.

The new Regional Orchestra is intended for high quality young musicians up to the age of 19 and we expect that woodwind, brass and percussion players will be of Grade 8 standard or equivalent.

The Orchestra will meet three times a year for a two-day orchestral course followed by a performance in a major local venue.

Tutors from all three music services will support each orchestral rehearsal and top quality guest conductors will be invited to lead each course.

The University of Warwick Arts Centre have agreed to be the home for this exciting new group and we will return to the Arts Centre in March for our second two day course followed by a performance in the Butterworth Hall.

We are also delighted to be working in partnership with the National Youth Ochestra of Great Britain and have already shared a very exciting day of music-making with the orchestra at the University of Warwick Arts Centre in January 2018. We look forward to many more collaborative adventures with both the NYO and the NYO Inspire Orchestra.

Our third 2 day course will take place at the Warwick Schools' Foundation in Warwick at the end of June as part of their week long Arts Festival.

Our brand new Regional Strings Orchestra will form the core of the new youth orchestra. Brass, woodwind and percussion students will be invited to take part in the Regional Youth Orchestra too and full details on membership will be available soon.
