During the October half-term break (21st - 25th October 2019) award winning music production team Get it Loud in Libraries will be delivering a week long programme of music and creative activities including song writing, drumming, rapping, beatboxing, music journalism and photography workshops.

The project has been designed to offer young people the chance to get involved in making music, improving their existing skills and developing new ones. They will also learn about how to break into the music industry and the different career and study pathways open to them in the creative industries.

The project will include an opportunity for participants to support the delivery of a gig by critically acclaimed new and emerging band YAK. They will be photographing the gig, recording an interview with the band and will be special guests of Get It Loud in Libraries on the night.

Previous Get It Loud in Libraries gigs at Coventry Central Library include Idles, Sam Fender, Fontaines DC and local music superstar Jorja Smith.  The events are critically acclaimed and bring new and emerging artists to Coventry, while supporting the development of the library as an important cultural venue.

The camp will be based in Coventry’s Central Library and is being supported by the library as part of the city’s build up to Coventry being crowned the UK City of Culture in 2021. Young people will be invited to form part of a group shaping the city’s cultural offer for children and young peoples in 2021.

Participants attending all the workshops will gain Bronze level accreditation through Arts Council England’s prestigious Arts Award programme. Arts Award inspires young people to grow their arts and leadership talents.
