Coventry Cathedral Chorus is committed to encouraging children and young people to enjoy choral music-making. The choir promotes a season of choral and orchestral concerts normally in Coventry Cathedral. As part of that season of 5/6 concerts, at least 3 will have direct participation of schools. Two carol concerts before Christmas always include an invited school choir to perform Christmas music from their own repertoire. For the past 6 years, the Chorus has promoted a special concert in late January/early February called Discovering the Classics. This concert is designed specifically to support young students working on GCSE and 'A'-level music with a programme of music selected by the schools and performed by the Chorus, Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra and students. Music ranges from the Baroque period to contemporary pop and musical theatre. Primary and senior schools are involved in performing. In 2021, as part of Coventry's City of Culture, the Chorus will be working with schools in performances of Andrew Carter's Galloping Godiver, in schools, and with a final massed performance in Coventry Cathedral.
