Here are some of the great performances that have been happening in Schools across Coventry this Christmas

irst Choir Performance for National Maths and Science College

On Wednesday 5th December the National Maths and Science College had their first ever choir concert.  They have only been singing together since September and many of the students had never spoken English before then, let alone learning to sing!  They performed a few of the songs they have been working on since forming and of course, some Christmas favourites to end the term before many of the students fly back home for the holidays.  Mrs Clayton and Miss Tyler are incredibly proud of their achievements and the confidence they showed in their performance and can’t wait to start new songs in January.

Music from Old Junk!

As part of this year's Mornings of Music, we were lucky to have a junk percussion workshop delivered by George Kirkham from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire's Learning and Participation Department. We had lots of fun playing bin lids, plant pots, woks, bottle top shakers and buckets, and explored some rhythms that the children can play along with the Mornings of Music songs. Thank you to Broad Heath Primary School for hosting the workshop, and to all who came along - see you at the vocal CPD in January!

Longford Park Choir bring Christmas cheer to care home

The choir from Longford Park School have built up a lovely relationship with Maymorn Dementia Care Centre in Coventry. They have visited the centre twice this term, firstly to sing a selection of remembrance songs for the centenary of the end of WW1 and then to bring a bit of festive cheer with some Christmas favourites. Mrs Clayton was incredibly proud of the children. They sang beautifully and their behaviour was fantastic. A great partnership between the school, the centre and Coventry Music.
