Learn how to get creative with the Ten Pieces repertoire in our free CPD days for teachers. Lead by music specialists and BBC musicians in venues across the UK.

FREE TEN PIECES TEACHER CPD DAYS!

Monday 12 November 2018 - Maida Vale Studios, London, 10.30am – 5pm

Ten Pieces for the Totally Terrified - with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and BBC Singers

This training is aimed at KS2 teachers who would like to gain more confidence in making music with their class. It doesn’t matter how musical you think you are – you will leave the day with new ideas and confidence to help your children to get creative with classical music. All ideas shared will be easily taught by non-specialists and will not require specialist musical knowledge or equipment.

Tuesday 8 January 2019 - Maida Vale Studios, London, 10.30am – 5pm

Ten Pieces Creative Catalyst - with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestra

This workshop is aimed at KS2 teachers who already make music with their children and would like to come away with ideas and inspiration. Learn how to get the best from your children and how to help them to develop their creative ideas.

The day will be split into two halves. Half of the day will be focused on creating original musical responses. The second half will look at responding to Ten Pieces using spoken word and visual art.

Ten Pieces is Totes Cross-curricular  - with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra

This CPD training is for KS2 teachers who would like to develop their skills in creative music making with pupils, in particular using the Ten Pieces repertoire as a means of exploring or incorporating other subjects from the wider curriculum.

Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis. See below for information on how to apply.

Tuesday 2 April 2019 – South Wales: BBC Hoddinott Hall, Cardiff, 10am - 3pm

Ten Pieces CPD for teachers working in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and KS1 - with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales

 

An informal, interactive workshop, particularly aimed at teachers working with young people who have specific learning difficulties (SLD) and sensory impairments. This workshop will also be suitable for teachers working at Key Stage 1 level in primary schools as the material covered can easily be adapted and used in KS1.

Ten Pieces CPD, Scotland - with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra

This session is for Primary classroom teachers with some experience of working with music in the classroom. The group session will include practical work with orchestral musicians, YMI instructors and other teachers to explore ways of using Ten Pieces in Scottish primary schools and ways of sharing these ideas throughout your school.

We are delighted to announce that our friends the Ulster Orchestra will be running a CPD session for teachers in Northern Ireland in the academic year 2018/19. More information about this will be shared in due course.

If you would like to apply for a place at one of our FREE CPD sessions please email tenpieces@bbc.co.uk with the following information:

•             Which CPD Session are you applying for? (please include date):

•             Name:

•             School Name and Address:

•             Position: (e.g. class teacher, music co-ordinator)

•             Have you taken part in Ten Pieces before? Is yes, what have you done?

•             What would you hope to gain from the CPD?

•             How would you describe your level of musical experience/confidence?

Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. If a session is oversubscribed then we will be limiting places to one-spot per school and will give priority to those that have not attended a Ten Pieces CPD session before.

Where a closing date is stated; we will get back to you within one week of the deadline to let you know whether your application has been successful.

We wanted to let you know about an upcoming FREE CPD day for secondary school music teachers, organised by our friends over at BBC Proms Inspire.

Taking place on Wednesday 28 November at BBC Maida Vale Studios in London, this practical and informative day led by composer Fraser Trainer and a team of BBC Symphony Orchestra musicians will leave you with refreshed techniques and ideas for supporting young composers on their journeys.
