Arts Mark

we are delighted to offer schools an invitation to take part in the Coventry Music Artsmark Project. This project has been set up to support a group of schools in achieving an Artsmark award in time for Coventry’s City of Culture year.

Artsmark has been designed by schools, for schools, to support the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum, so it is a perfect way to prepare for the implementation of the new Ofsted framework. As well as recognising schools that are making the arts come alive, the Artsmark award is a practical and valuable tool for enriching a school’s arts provision whatever the starting point.

Working towards an Artsmark award as part of this project brings a number of advantages, including:

  • Bespoke Artsmark sessions held locally in Coventry
  • Support from an Artsmark consultant, who will work with schools throughout the project
  • Ongoing support, school visits and consultancy from the Coventry Music team
  • Becoming part of a network of schools going through the process together
  • Signposting to opportunities provided by Hub Partners and other arts organisations

For more information, please see the letter on our files page.

To apply to take part in the Artsmark Project, please complete and return the donwloadable application form to jonathon.wakefield@coventry.gov.uk by Friday 8th February.

On our download page you can find a fabulous document from Music Mark which will help you to ask useful questions of school leaders and teachers to improve outcomes in music. In the document Music Mark provide questions that will help you to support and challenge senior and subject leaders about music provision in your school. We follow these questions with a few pointers. We would never suggest that these responses are the ‘correct answers’ but they will guide you on to lines of thinking that will help you to improve your knowledge and understanding of music making in your school.
